Philodendron ruizii

Philodendron ruiziiNice, Ecuadorean species that has a short stem, so leaves form somewhat of a birds nest. Although, Im not sure Id call this species one of the birds nest types (common name for a section of Philodendron). Leaves are nicely long and thin.

There is not much information out there on this species or on Section Epicranthes in general

Species from Ecuador

but they will ultimately do best mounted to hang pendent like their natural growth habit

but I have found it does well in intermediate to warm conditions as well

It develops fantastic ripples down the leaf

New growths emerge as new fans from the original plant

Smallish species with peltate leaves

All are growing roots and in active growth

Seedling in a 2" pot

A mature plant in bloom is a sight to behold
