Gyotaku of a Birds Feather A4Whenever I see a feather, I almost always pick them up. I keep a jar in the studio. They are very popular print. I always wonder if it is just people liking the image, buying for writers or bird enthusiasts. This feather is printed in Speedball Acrylic ink. The print is on Chinese Xuan paper and has been flattened and backed for framing using the Urauchi method. The paper I work with is very thin so I need to do this process so it can be framed. The

The following day I use the traditional Japanese technique of Uruachi to make the print flat enough to be put into a frame

celebrating the natural form of the creature with both accuracy and artistry

After printing I then use the Urauchi method to apply backing paper to make the print frameable

archival-quality finish

I've printed this on an A4 sheet of Chinese calligraphy paper using blue and green ink

The print is made using the finest quality Acrylic ink mainly gold so it has a slight shimmer to it
