Locusta PlasticusThis imaginative gyotaku print features a lobster like creature composed entirely of beach plastic, brought to life through the same traditional techniques I use to print real lobsters. These tiny fish are useful to fishermen for bait and that's exactly how I came by mine

When the paper has been pressed over the Octopus it gets wrinkled so I use a process known as Urauhchi to flatten the print by backing it

With a body measuring approx 16cm by 3cm this this tiny mullet was stunning

I felt the final panel needed something more

That said I had the size very much in mind as I composed this series of works

This bass is printed on Thai mulberry paper measuring 50x70cm

The solution: create small-scale works that still hold visual impact

It was then wet mounted a second time
