Gyotaku Impression taken from the surface of a Large PrawnThis prawn was donated to me by my son. He's a chef and was preparing for a competition and had a load of prawns for a recipe which he didn't need. I've printed this on an A4 sheet of Chinese calligraphy paper using red ink. It takes a long time to prepare and ink a prawn and then position it ready to print. So although it's a small print, a lot of work goes into it. Once the print is made, the paper isn't really good for framing as it gets wrinkled

each fish is printed individually

We released the ones that had started to move back into the sea as the tide was going out

I had to find a way of 'drying' it without breaking it

This print is A4

Each print can stand alone or be combined with others in the 6x6 Collection to form a larger arrangement

The tentacle is laid out

Based in the waters of the Menai Strait

allowing it to be displayed float-mounted or beneath a traditional frame
